Southern Circuit & Zanzibar

Tanzania โ€“ Wilderness the Way It Should Be

Tanzania is Africa’s safari classic โ€“ and the south of the country is its best-kept secret. Instead of crowded tracks, you’ll find vast, untouched wilderness where the animals set the pace. Nyerere National Park, the former Selous Game Reserve, is Africa’s largest protected area at over 30,000 kmยฒ: endless savannahs, palm groves and the mighty Rufiji River, where boat safaris glide you past crocodiles, hippos and countless waterbirds. Alongside game drives in open 4x4s, guided walking safaris are possible here too โ€“ Africa up close. The neighbouring Mikumi National Park delights with its game-rich Mkata floodplain, home to elephants, giraffes, zebras and lions. If you’re after the Big Five and genuine solitude, without the crowds of the northern circuit, southern Tanzania is exactly the place.

Zanzibar โ€“ Spice Island & Dream Beaches

After dusty days in the bush comes the perfect contrast: Zanzibar. This spice island in the Indian Ocean enchants with powder-white beaches, turquoise water and swaying coconut palms. In the historic old town of Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Arab, Indian and African influences blend into a fascinating labyrinth of narrow lanes, intricately carved doors and fragrant markets. The tranquil east coast is made for unwinding โ€“ snorkelling on the offshore reef, fresh fish on the beach and sunsets you’ll never forget. Safari and sea, adventure and relaxation: a combination that’s simply unbeatable.
